The part-number photo that makes a vendor enquiry easier

Capture useful evidence without dismantling or handling unsafe components.

In this guide

A photo of a box may not show what a vendor needs to identify the part. A useful set gives context and a readable reference. Ask your mechanic to help when the component is fitted, difficult to reach or safety-critical.

What to photograph

  • A wider view showing the complete part.
  • The stamped or printed part number, in focus and without glare.
  • Relevant connectors or mounting points, if safely visible.
  • Visible condition or damage that needs explaining.

What to leave out

Keep number plates, faces, personal documents and unrelated workshop records out of the frame where possible. Do not remove covers or touch electrical components just to obtain a photograph. Send the images directly to the vendor when needed; the current MyFita request form uses written details rather than a photo attachment.

Put the guide into practice

Use accurate details, ask about anything uncertain and confirm the final arrangement directly with the seller.
